Brighton sign Matias Orozco from Deportivo Cali for £3.5m on five-year deal | OneFootball

Brighton have completed the signing of Colombian midfielder Matias Orozco from Deportivo Cali for £3.5 million on a five-year contract.

He is likely to go straight out on loan to a European league. Albion sporting director Mike Cave said they had identified Orozco as an exciting young talent and will place him on loan for the 2026-27 season so he can continue his development.

The 18-year-old has already broken into the Colombian top flight and captains his country’s under-20s.

A sell-on for Deportivo is also likely, making the deal attractive for the Colombian club.

The move signals a renewed South American focus for Albion, and came on a day Diego Gomez, Moises Caicedo and Valentin Barco were in action on the same pitch at Chelsea.

Further business is expected before Tuesday evening’s transfer deadline, involving moves to secure minutes for senior players out of the squad and under-21s. Amario Cozier-Duberry returned to the matchday squad, while Ibrahim Osman was the winger sent on during the late push to save the game.
