The striker is still firing in the goals for the Robins, and Huddersfield fans will have fond memories.
Huddersfield Town's rise to the Premier League was truly incredible, with the club going from Championship minnows to play-off winners in the space of just 12 months.
The Terriers beat Reading on penalties in May 2017 at Wembley Stadium, as they reached the top division of English football for the first time since 1972.
While the final itself against the Royals was largely unremarkable, the journey that the West Yorkshire side had been on over the course of the season was something to behold and, under the guidance of David Wagner, they finally won that crucial promotion.
However, the situation could have been completely different had they not secured the services of Huddersfield's then number 21 three years prior from Bradford City for a reported £1.3m. It was a deal that proved to be a masterstroke, and nearly eight years after his departure, he is still finding the back of the net for another club.
Nahki Wells made the step up from League One to the Championship in January 2014 after scoring 14 goals in 19 games for the Bantams.
While it was always going to be difficult to bridge that gap from the third tier to the second, the forward showed no sign of nerves in his first three appearances, and he registered two goals and an assist after only just introducing himself.
It was clear that Huddersfield had a star on their hands, and he ended his first season as a Terrier with seven strikes to his name.
At this point, survival in the Championship was the aim of the game for Wells and his teammates, and they continued to retain their status in the EFL's highest division, and the goals kept on coming.
He fired in 11 times during the 2014/15 campaign, despite missing a quarter of the season through a mix of suspension and injuries. However, it was in his third year in blue-and-white when he finally proved just how much of a threat he is in the final third.
Wells scored 17 goals for Huddersfield, but they struggled to progress further up the league table. While they had managed to survive in the second tier once again, there was a desire to see more, and that is exactly what they got as Wagner took over at the John Smith's Stadium.
The Terriers showed signs of a team that were going to be in the mix for promotion from the off in 2016/17, and although they did drop off towards the back end of the season, they were excellent in the play-offs defensively, keeping three clean sheets in their three games.
Wells ended the year with 10 goals, but struck home with his penalty in the play-off final to help send the Yorkshire side to the Premier League.
The striker left Huddersfield for pastures new after promotion was secured, and he handed his former side a hefty profit.
Burnley bought the Bermuda international for £5m, however, he struggled during his short time at Turf Moor. He headed south to QPR before eventually joining Bristol City, where he has been continuing to find the back of the net in the Championship.
Wells' goal record in the second tier is excellent, and with over 400 appearances in the division, there is no doubting the impact that he has had on it.
Nevertheless, Huddersfield supporters will still look back on the days when he was firing in the goals for the Terriers, and may just wonder what if he followed them into the Premier League?
