Bristol City face competition from Burnley for a manager's services as they look to appoint Roy Hodgson's successor this summer.
Bristol City are set to be one of a few Championship clubs in need of a new manager at the end of this season, with Roy Hodgson taking charge of their final game against Stoke City this weekend.
Following Gerhard Struber's dismissal, Roy Hodgson took charge of the Robins for the second time in his managerial career. So far, he has won two, drawn two, and lost two in his six league games as Bristol City manager.
Hodgson's Bristol City return broke records but he is soon to turn 79 and is not in line to be in the dugout for the 2026/27 season. Next year will be the club's 12th at this level following promotion in 2015 and they need to kick on and compete after missing out on the play-offs this season.
Bristol City will be eyeing long-term managers as successor's to Hodgson and FLW exclusively revealed Russell Martin is one potential option being considered already. However, new names are popping up consistently now as we head towards final day and clubs could be competing for the same coaches.

Wayne Rooney has recently spoken of his admiration for Hodgson but it is another of Hodgson's former captains for England who is now being linked with the vacancy at Ashton Gate ahead of the summer.
Steven Gerrard has already been tipped to potentially join Bristol City and now journalist Pete O'Rourke has revealed the iconic Liverpool figure is in the frame to succed Hodgson.
Gerrard is open to a role in the Championship but they already face competition for his services. Updates today have stated Gerrard or Craig Bellamy could take over from Scott Parker at Burnley.
Gerrard captained England 38 times, with some coming under Steve McLaren and Fabio Cappelo. However, he served as Hodgson's permanent captain in Euro 2012 and at the World Cup in 2014.

Gerrard has been out of work since leaving Saudi side Al-Ettifaq in October 2025, with his next steps in management perhaps in the Championship to rebuild his career. Both Burnley and Bristol City would make sense for him in the latest chapter of his career.
Despite having done some punditry work after retiring, the 45-year-old quickly transitioned into management. He has not managed in the Championship nor the EFL as a whole yet, though.
He first made his mark at Rangers, where he delivered the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership title, ending Celtic’s dominance and going unbeaten domestically in the process. That success earned him a move to Aston Villa, where he showed early signs of promise but struggled for the same consistency he had in Scotland.
That meant his reputation took somewhat of a hit after he was ultimately dismissed. Instead, Gerrard then took on a new challenge with Al-Ettifaq and embraced a totally different footballing culture and project. He's been out of work since.
Bristol City might ne able to lure him away from a club like Burnley, given they are in the north west and have parachute payments. But throwing their hat into the ring makes sense. That said, having eyes on Lee Carsley and the like could be in Bristol City's best interests as an alternative instead.
