Lucy Bronze says there is even more to come from Chelsea next season, despite having already won a domestic treble with the club this campaign.
The Blues capped off an unbeaten season by winning the FA Cup, defeating Manchester United 3-0 at Wembley thanks to a double from Sandy Baltimore either side of a Catarina Macario goal.
But having been knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals by Barcelona, Bronze insists Chelsea are just scratching the surface of what they are capable of doing.
“I think we’ve been saying it all season,” Bronze said. “Obviously we’ve had an amazing season but it was Sonia’s first season as a manager, she’s a manager with a different style to the previous one.
“At other clubs like Arsenal and City, I think managers kind of took over from where the (previous manager) left off whereas we’ve had to adapt, there’s a lot of new players coming in like all the new signings that started today’s game.
“I think this season was, performance wise, a little bit up and down but we got the results because we’ve got world class players.
“But I think next season we can really push on.
“I think we learned a lot of lessons this season from the Champions League which we can take into next season and obviously the form domestically is something we can carry on but I think next season is going to be very difficult because everyone will want to be the first team to beat Chelsea after the long run we’re on at the minute.”
This was Bronze’s first season at Chelsea following her move from Barcelona this summer and she also spoke of her delight with the decision she made to head to west London.
“I feel at home,” she said. “I think Sonia has put a lot of trust in me as an experienced player and on the pitch.
“It’s been super easy to settle in at Chelsea. I absolutely love being here, being part of this club, being with the fans and everything and it’s been the perfect move.”
