Bruno Fernandes’ late goal in Manchester United’s win over Tottenham on Saturday was about more than just sealing a fourth straight victory.

The Portuguese midfielder reached a major personal milestone, registering his 200th goal involvement for the club. He is now the second-fastest United player to hit that mark, doing so in 314 appearances.

Only Wayne Rooney achieved the feat quicker, reaching 200 contributions in 295 games, made up of 133 goals and 67 assists.

Cristiano Ronaldo, by comparison, needed 339 matches during his first spell at Old Trafford to post 144 goals and 56 assists.

Fernandes’ strike against Spurs was his 104th goal in a United shirt, alongside 96 assists, highlighting his consistency since arriving in 2020 - even if his spell has come during a far less dominant period than those enjoyed by Rooney and Ronaldo.

The result also underlined United’s improving form. They have now won four matches in a row for the first time since February 2024 and are eight games unbeaten in the Premier League, a run not seen since the first half of 2022.
