Manchester United produced another fine display in front of their home support on Saturday to dispatch a struggling Tottenham Hotspur side and extend Michael Carrick’s impressive run as interim head coach.

Well-worked goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes came either side of the break to hand United a well-earned 2-0 win and further solidify their place in one of the Premier League’s coveted top four spots.

Carrick’s four-game winning run in the league surpasses Ruben Amorim’s best effort of three consecutive victories in charge, with fans gleefully enjoying the new manager bounce.

One fan more than most hoping the run will continue

The last 18 months have been particularly challenging for United fans, with the record low 15th-place finish last time out followed by a turbulent start to this season.

During that time, a certain fan made a promise that he would not cut his hair until United won five games in a row, a promise that has seen him go viral due to the struggles of the team under Amorim.

However, Frank Ilett, also known as The United Strand, may be close to booking his appointment at the barber’s, with United just one win away from completing the run.

Should United beat West Ham on Tuesday night, Carrick will have guided his side to a perfect 15 points from 15, and Frank will finally be able to cut his overgrown locks.

Bruno Fernandes speaks on viral supporter

United captain Bruno Fernandes has been at the heart of United’s impressive run and was quizzed on Frank’s challenge after the win against Tottenham Hotspur.

As reported by The Mirror, Fernandes claimed he is more concerned about his own trim than Frank’s in a humorous response to the curious situation.

“I need to book for myself, I don’t look at other people. I don’t look if they need to go to the hair dresser or not, that is not important for me,” he said.

If United are to make it five in a row, Bruno will no doubt play a pivotal role in any win at the London Stadium, with the Hammers hitting a decent run of form themselves.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s men are desperate for the points given their standing in the league and will be confident of upsetting the odds after drawing with United at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign.

Frank confident of success in the capital

Meanwhile, Ilett is desperate for United to do it and is confident Carrick’s men can get the final win required.

He announced he will be holding a watch-along for the crunch game against West Ham and thanked the new United head coach for his efforts in turning the tide at the Theatre of Dreams.

“Carrick is at the wheel, this hair is going soon, West Ham next, four out of five done. This is the first time it’s been four in a row since I started the challenge.

Thank you so much to Carrick, thank you, thank you, thank you. There will be a watch along for the fifth game against West Ham. Some exciting plans coming up, more details to come,” he posted.

United face West Ham tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, kicking off at 20:15 GMT.
