Bruno Genesio says ‘no signs’ of contract extension at Lille

As the end of the season approaches, the managerial situation at Lille OSC remains vague. Bruno Genesio’s recent comments only add to that perception.

It was reported by Mohamed Toubache-Ter at the end of April that LOSC were potentially in the market for a new manager this summer. Genesio’s contract at the club is up at the end of the season, and Toubache-Ter understands that the club are searching the market for a replacement. Specifically, they are looking for a foreign manager to replace the Frenchman. No names have been cited, however.

Genesio, speaking ahead of Les Dogues’ game against fellow European challengers AS Monaco on Sunday night, addressed his future at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. “The club has shown no signs [of offering an extension],” he began.

The former Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais manager continued, “We will see after the season because perhaps a lot of things will stem from a direct qualification – or not – for the Champions League.”

With two games remaining in Ligue 1, Lille are fourth in the table, two points back from Lyon, who occupy the final automatic qualification spot for next season’s UCL.
