Bruno Guimaraes agrees five-year Arsenal deal as Newcastle reject €70m bid | OneFootball

Arsenal have stepped up their move for Newcastle and Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who wants a switch to London. The Gunners have had a €70m offer turned down.

According to L'Équipe, the 28-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with Arsenal after Brazil's 1-2 last-16 exit to Norway, a tie in which he missed a penalty.

Guimaraes has informed Newcastle executives and head coach Eddie Howe, for whom he is captain, of his wish to leave to play Champions League football.

Newcastle know he has two years left on his deal and that now is the time to sell at a premium, after he recorded four assists at the World Cup. Arsenal could submit a fresh bid in the coming days, potentially nearer €90m.

Lyon are monitoring the situation because they kept a 20% share of any future profit when selling him to Newcastle for €50m including bonuses in January 2022. If a fee of around €80m is reached, the French club could receive six million euros.
