It is titled ‘Bukayo Saka: The Time is Now’, focusing on what it takes to perform at the highest level of elite sport.

It is a poignant time to set the spotlight on Saka, who has just lifted his first Premier League trophy and played in a first Champions League final.

The film will also dive into Saka’s upbringing at home in Ealing, before delving into his more private life off the pitch.

The production, directed by Emmy winner Robert Alexander, was released today, Friday, June 5, and is available to watch on Disney+.

WhatsApp and Modern Arts have led the production of the piece, which Saka says has “given me the chance to tell my story in a way I never have before.

“People see the goals and the matches, but they don’t see what it takes behind the scenes, and part of that is my support system, the WhatsApp messages from the people who were there long before any of this who have believed in me every step of the way.”

The documentary will also hone in on the reception that Saka received after he missed the decisive penalty in the Euro 2020 final shootout, which England lost to Italy at Wembley Stadium.

The Arsenal man, 19 at the time, was subjected to severe racist abuse afterwards, along with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, who also missed from 12 yards that day.
