Nigeria eliminated Algeria from the African Cup of Nations, ending the tournament for Bundesliga quartet Ramy Bensebaini (Dortmund), Farès Chaïbi (Frankfurt), Ibrahim Maza (Leverkusen) and Mohamed Amoura (Wolfsburg), who now head back to their clubs.

According to BuLi News, the four could be in contention for midweek Bundesliga action on matchday 17.

All four started for the two-time champions, yet Nigeria controlled the contest. Victor Osimhen struck early in the second half, then teed up fellow striker Akor Adams 10 minutes later for the clincher.

Nigeria will meet Morocco in the semi-final, while Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart) and Eliesse Ben Seghir (Leverkusen) hope to reach the final on home soil.

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande starts for Côte d'Ivoire in the last quarter-final against Egypt. TSG Hoffenheim's Bazoumana Touré will most likely come off the bench after scoring in back-to-back games as a supersub, with the winners to face Nicolas Jackson’s Senegal in the other semi-final.
