Brownhill is set to be in-demand this summer, with his Clarets contract coming to an end
Burnley captain Josh Brownhill's future is one of the talks of the transfer market right now, and Besiktas are the latest club reportedly keen on bringing him in ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Even though the transfer window isn't officially open yet, players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of June are looking to secure their futures, whether that is with their current club or elsewhere.
Clarets skipper Brownhill is one player in particular who is in that very boat, and he is very much in-demand thanks to the season he's had at Turf Moor - could he be moving away from England though for pastures new?
According to a report from Turkish outlet Fotospor, it is Besiktas who are the latest club to register their interest in Brownhill, and they are said to have even made contact with the midfielder's representatives in order to determine what his demands would be.
The 29-year-old has had a statement season for Burnley in the Championship, finding the back of the net 18 times from the middle of the park as well as notching six assists on top of that from 42 league outings.
Brownhill has played 111 times in the Premier League as well for Burnley across four separate seasons, and he has been linked with clubs who are set to be the Clarets' rivals in 2025-26, including Everton and West Ham.
However, Besiktas represents a new and further afield option for the ex-Bristol City man, and it has been claimed in Fotospor's report that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given the green light for the deal to take place, should they be able to agree terms.
What Besiktas could offer Brownhill over the likes of Burnley, Everton and West Ham is European football - should they finish in the top four of Turkish football.
With six games remaining of the 2024-25 Super Lig season, Besiktas occupy fourth position, which would earn them qualification for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
Whilst that isn't as glamorous as other competitions, it would provide Brownhill the platform to play in Europe, and there is worse cities to ply your footballing trade in than Istanbul.
There are plenty of Englishmen on the coaching staff too, such as ex-Preston assistant Mike Marsh and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also in their squad too, so he wouldn't be alone as a British man abroad.
