Burnley could look to ship these two strikers out in the summer
In the thick of the promotion battle, on-field issues take precedence, but planning will soon be starting for the summer transfer window once Burnley know with a degree of certainty what division they'll be playing in next season.
Busy summer transfer windows have become something of a running theme at Turf Moor, with each of the last three seeing the squad overhauled, and this coming summer promises much of the same if they don't get back into the Premier League.
Even with promotion, heavy investment will be needed and that will mean some players will fall by the wayside to pave the way for more incomings at Turf Moor, and there are certainly some players who appear more likely than others to be shipped out.
With an inflated squad, Scott Parker has plenty of players to choose from who he could look to move out of the door to save the club money, but some stand out much more than others.
Here, we look at two striking options who Parker could look to move out of the door in the summer regardless of what division the Clarets are in.
Andreas Hountondji only moved to Turf Moor in the summer, but it's hard to see what future he has at Turf Moor moving forward having been shipped out on loan to Standard Liege just a matter of months after signing.
Before his move to Standard Liege, Capology estimated his Burnley wages to be £7,500 per week (as previously cited by FLW), and although that ranks him as one of the lower earners at Turf Moor, his earnings could still be better spent elsewhere.
The £7,500 per week he was estimated to be earning at Burnley was the sixth-lowest figure at the club before his move, with that weekly wage seeing him scoop a yearly salary of £390,000, money which the Clarets have had little return on.
Hountondji was signed in the very infancy of the Scott Parker reign, which begs the question whether he was actually his signing or not, and the fact he made only 10 appearances before being loaned out suggests he probably wasn't.
It's hard to see him having much of future if he returns to Burnley, and the Clarets would be wise to try and get his wages off the books regardless of what division they're in next season.
Although he's been at Turf Moor for over two years now, Michael Obafemi has made precious little impact on the first-team picture since he moved from Swansea for a £3.5m fee.
He's currently on loan at Plymouth, who are in the Championship with Burnley but battling down the bottom of the table, and is still struggling for game time, which doesn't bode well ahead of his return to the North West in the summer.
According to Capology, he's estimated to be earning £15,000 per week currently, which gives him an estimated yearly pay of £780,000, which coupled with Hountondji's wages comes in at an estimated saving of around £1.1m per year.
Obafemi's loan spell with Plymouth was a perfect chance for him to show why he should be in the Burnley squad moving forward, but his failure to make any tangible impact makes it hard to see how he comes back to Turf Moor and plays a bigger role.
There's no doubting he still has something to offer at Championship level in the right system, but Burnley simply haven't been getting any value out of his estimated £15,000 per week wages, and they could well try and cash in over the summer.
