FLW's QPR fan pundit shares their thoughts on Ronnie Edwards' links with Burnley this summer

Queens Park Rangers' summer is fully up and running, with Julien Stephan's side having completed some important business after weeks without action, but could be set to face a blow which would shake up their transfer plans.

After a slow start to the window, QPR are up and running, with the R's squad slowly coming together.

Boy Kemper joined from NAC Breda to begin the summer window, reinforcing things at left-back, whilst Pierce Charles and Calum Ward are set to go head-to-head in goal for a place between the sticks at Loftus Road next season, having joined from Manchester City and Motherwell, respectively.

Now, Tariq Lamptey has returned to West London on a free transfer following his release from Italian side Fiorentina, in what could be a real coup for QPR if the Ghanaian international can remain fit.

As the incomings begin to flow in, exits are not yet out of the question, as a new division rival has indicated their interest in one of their star assets.

Ronnie Edwards joined QPR from Southampton just over six months ago in January for around £4.5 million, having previously shone on loan at Loftus Road.

The centre-back has made 17 appearances in the Championship for QPR since his return to West London, but could be set for another exit this summer, as, according to West London Sport, Burnley are interested in the Englishman's services.

Football League World's QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, has shared their thoughts on the potential exit of Edwards to Burnley, and how much the R's should realistically be commanding for his services this summer.

Louis said: "I think any player is going to be up for sale. I don't think you can have this sort of policy of 'not for sale' because it's not realistic. I do believe every player's got a price, because if the money came in, and it's money you can't turn down, you're going to obviously say yes.

"So, look, first of all, I'll be gutted if Edwards ends up leaving because he was such a massive signing, and he's not been here that long at all since joining on a permanent basis.

"Burnley have got a lot of money. Obviously, a club who are up and down, up and down, and you would think they'll be up there again this season. And, on paper, they've obviously got more chance of getting promoted than us.

"So would Edwards have his head turned? He really does seem to like it at QPR. He sort of played his best football with us when we had him on loan and sort of gradually improved again last season.

"I just think, if a big, big offer came in, you'd be gutted to lose him, but you would have to accept, and I think you'd be looking in the region of, well, to take such an important player off us, I think £15 million, or something around that region. £15 million minimum with a big sell-on clause.

"And like I say, Burnley have got the money. They've got extra money from parachute payments. They've got extra money from sales. I think we try and get as much out of them if it was to happen.

"If we got that much for him, you'd argue that we could potentially spend big on a replacement, or get a replacement and then scatter that money around elsewhere. And technically, it could be a decent deal because you get to invest heavily in the squad, not just in one or two players. You know, you'd have a bit to play with there.

"But look, Edwards can't go. He cannot leave. It'd be a right kick in the teeth if it was to happen. But like I say, £15 million minimum, or basically, he's not going anywhere, because I think anything less, this close to the season now and such an important player to a Championship rival as well, you have got to be looking at that figure. So £15 million minimum please, Burnley, or go away."

With Burnley having emerged as contenders for Edwards' signature, head coach Stephan must remain steadfast in the club's stance over the defender.

Having signed a long-term contract with the club just six months ago, QPR will be in no rush to sell the 23-year-old on the cheap, and are well within their rights to command a huge fee this summer.

Burnley do indeed have parachute payments to their advantage, and following the sales of Jaidon Anthony and Loum Tchaouna, will have an extra £40 million heading into their pockets on top of that.

The Clarets will be looking for an immediate return to the Premier League, and have identified Edwards as a potential option to take them back there, but one thing is for certain: he won't come cheap.
