BVB Women Kick Off Preseason – Popp Makes Her Debut in Black and Yellow | OneFootball

Baseline screening, sports medicine history, field testing—the BVB Women’s preseason preparations have begun with intensive and comprehensive performance diagnostics. For the first time, Alexandra Popp also slipped on the Black and Yellow training jersey and completed her first day as a new player for Borussia Dortmund. Alongside the 35-year-old, the other six new Dortmund signings—Ricarda Walkling, Ramona Maier, Lara Schmidt, Lena Ostermeier, Jacqueline Meißner, and Manuela Zinsberger—also underwent performance diagnostics.

In addition to the sports medicine examination, the focus was primarily on baseline screening. “The main components are a running and movement analysis, as well as a physical screening. This gives us baseline data we can refer to when injured players are ready to return to training,” explains athletic trainer Benedikt Terschluse.

Performance diagnostics are a standard, mandatory part of the very beginning of every preseason, before the BVB women’s soccer team returns to the training field and the ball on Thursday.

First public training session on Friday

With the exception of the injured Mia Scholle and Emilia Pauls, all players from head coach Markus Högner’s 25-player roster participated in the mandatory performance and stress tests on Tuesday.

On Friday, July 10, at 3:30 p.m., the

BVB Women will hold a public training session on Field 5 at the training complex in Dortmund-Brackel. Just two days later, their first preseason friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt II is on the schedule (July 12, 1:00 p.m.). The match will take place on the grass field at the Hennef Sports School.

From July 17 to 24, the team will hold this year’s training camp in Westendorf (Austria), where they will face Bundesliga club Mainz 05 in a friendly match in Hopfgarten on July 22 at 5:00 p.m.
