A shirt swap between a young Corinthians fan and a Cabo Verde supporter during Sunday’s World Cup match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami has gone viral.

Footage shows the boy beckoning the Cabo Verde fan and, using gestures, asking to exchange shirts. The adult then pulls on the child-sized Corinthians top, drawing cheers nearby.

After the swap he shouted “Brasil” followed by “Vai, Corinthians”. At full-time, Cabo Verde fans joined Corinthians supporters inside the stadium to celebrate together, leading the familiar “Poropopó” chant.

The moment followed another show of affinity last week, when a Cabo Verde fan publicly declared his connection with the São Paulo club.

“As minhas saudações para os torcedores do Corinthians, já que eu sou corinthiano. Eu acompanho o Campeonato Brasileiro, sou fã do Campeonato Brasileiro, da Libertadores, vejo tudo isso. Sou do Bando de Loucos”.

He told ESPN Brasil.

This is Cabo Verde’s first World Cup. They have recorded two valuable draws, against Spain and Uruguay, and head into the final round needing a win over Saudi Arabia to secure a place in the knockouts.
