Cádiz ‘close to signing’ Urko Izeta from Athletic | OneFootball

Cádiz are pressing to land Athletic striker Urko Izeta as their 26-27 pre-season begins under Christian Septien. As reported by as.com, there is a full agreement with the player, with talks over a fee that could reach 1.5 million euros ongoing with Athletic.

The club have already announced four arrivals and have moved ahead of several prominent Segunda División sides in the chase. The intent is to lift optimism with signings of real substance.

Izeta saw limited top-flight minutes this season, featuring in 16 matches and scoring once. Even so, his profile continues to attract interest at Segunda level.

He was a key part of Mirandés’s 24-25 promotion play-off run, playing 44 games across the league and Copa del Rey and producing 15 goals and three assists.

If completed, his arrival would bolster Idiakez, who already has fresh options such as Ezkieta in goal and Javi Castro in central defence. The squad also includes players stepping up to Segunda who must prove their level, and others who need to improve on last season.
