Egyptian football powerhouse Al Ahly faces serious consequences after the incidents that erupted during their recent clash against Morocco’s AS FAR in the 6th and final matchday of the group stage of the CAF Champions League 2025-2026.

The match was marred by several outbursts from the home fans, who physically assaulted the Moroccan club’s players and pelted the pitch with bottles.

These shocking scenes are set to push the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take strict action, as it has done in the past against Espérance de Tunis and AS FAR.

Barring a dramatic turn of events, Al Ahly will be forced to play their next two home matches behind closed doors and pay a $100,000 fine.

Any other sanction would be seen as the continental football body yielding to pressure from the powerful Egyptian lobby, which remains highly influential within CAF.
