Milan legend Cafu has defended the current Rossoneri squad despite their disappointing Serie A campaign, insisting every player in the side would be capable of playing for either Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the Champions League final.
The former Brazil international spoke to MilanNews.it, via TuttoMercatoWeb, and admitted the club’s fifth-place finish had fallen below expectations, particularly after another season without a deep European run.
“We always want the best for Milan and we always hope they can go as far as possible,” Cafu said. “It didn’t happen this time, but we hope they return to the Champions League next season.”
The ex-right-back was also asked about the ongoing changes behind the scenes, including the departures of Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare, Massimiliano Allegri and Geoffrey Moncada, as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s role at the club.
“It’s not for me to decide what is right or wrong for Milan,” he explained. “There is a staff that makes those decisions, but as a Milan supporter I will always hope to see Milan become stronger and stronger.”

Cafu also reflected on his own time at San Siro, identifying his greatest memory in red and black. “Winning the Champions League for the first time was my best moment with Milan,” he said.
However, his boldest claim came when he was asked how many of the current Rossoneri squad could realistically play for Champions League finalists Arsenal or PSG.
“All of them! Because they are good players,” Cafu replied without hesitation.
The Brazilian acknowledged that missing out on the Champions League was a major disappointment, but argued it should not define the quality of the squad. “It’s a shame they didn’t qualify for the Champions League, but that doesn’t mean they are not good players,” he added. “Sometimes you just have a bad season. Hopefully things will go better next year.”
