Cagliari ‘to sign’ Daniel Maldini and Kevin Carlos, want €18m in Esposito deal | OneFootball

Sky Sport Italia reports that Cagliari are set to take Daniel Maldini from Atalanta on loan with an option to buy totalling €9m. Sebastiano Esposito could move the other way to Atalanta on loan with an €18m option.

The Sardinian club are navigating a busy week of deals. Maldini's loan would cost €1m with a further €8m to make it permanent, and the option can become an obligation if conditions, including goals, are met. He spent the last six months at Lazio.

Atalanta are keen on Esposito in a separate move, with the price kept high because Cagliari owe Inter 40 per cent of any profit above their €4m purchase. Napoli, Como, PSV Eindhoven and Hull City have also been linked.

Esposito’s situation escalated last week when Cagliari said he left pre-season without permission, and his agent countered that the club were pushing a sale.

Cagliari are close to a loan for OGC Nice forward Kevin Carlos, viewed as Esposito’s replacement. Nice signed him a year ago from FC Basel for €6m, and he has been linked with Venezia and Preston North End.
