Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has addressed speculation that Callum Wilson could return to the Championship club.
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has revealed the Championship club's stance on potentially re-signing striker Callum Wilson, who could leave West Ham United this month.
As reported by BBC Sport on Tuesday, the Hammers are close to an agreement to terminate the former Newcastle United man's contract after completing the double signing of strikers Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos for big-money fees.
The 33-year-old has scored four goals in 17 Premier League appearances this term, but is set to be deemed surplus to requirements at the London Stadium by under-fire head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
Amid the striker's likely availability this month should his contract be ripped up, Coventry's Championship rivals Leicester City are interested in Wilson, as the Foxes vie for a play-off spot.

Coventry have utilised the transfer window to bolster their wide areas, signing Min-Hyeok Yang and Romain Esse on loan from Tottenham and Crystal Palace, respectively, as their battle to win promotion to the Premier League intensifies.
Meanwhile, as reported by CoventryLive on Friday, Sky Blues supporters have speculated about the prospect of Wilson returning to the CBS Arena.
The England international impressed during his time with the West Midlands outfit after coming through the academy system, scoring 22 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions in the 2013/14 season ahead of an eventual move to Bournemouth.
However, when asked by Coventry Live if his club were keen on signing a new striker in the January transfer window, Lampard replied: "No, I’m very happy.
"When you think what Brandon (Thomas-Asante) has given us with his versatility, I’ve talked about what Romain (Esse) can bring us, and when I talk about our front boys, with Ellis (Simms) and Haji (Wright), I’ve got huge trust in those players. Huge trust!
"And I understand it, I sometimes hear people go, ‘we need this, we need that,’ but I think we’ve got players at the top of the team. This team, I don’t know the numbers, but they broke 50 goals in about 20-odd games in the first half of the season.
"Some of the goals were shared around the team, but our strikers, without Haji Wright in that first period of games, we wouldn’t have been top of the table. We were scoring, scoring, scoring.
"Brandon Thomas-Asante was top scorer in the league before he came out injured. Ellis Simms has been on runs of scoring goals, and I’m very, very happy with the boys at the top of the pitch."

Wilson has proven his goal-scoring abilities in both the EFL and the Premier League throughout his career, making him an attractive option for Championship clubs to acquire on a free transfer this month.
However, as highlighted by Lampard, the Sky Blues have notched an impressive return of 57 goals in 26 second-tier fixtures, and deservedly sit top of the league still despite their current three-game winless run, which is their first real wobble of the campaign.
The Sky Blues must bounce back from last Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Birmingham City when they return to Championship action next week, but they still boast by far the most potent attack in the Championship.
Therefore, Lampard is right to instil his faith in the likes of the soon to return Thomas-Asante, who has scored 10 goals in 17 league appearances this term, rather than pursuing a deal for Wilson.
Furthermore, as outlined by the former Chelsea boss, Coventry's frontline has already been refreshed by the recent additions of Yang and Esse, who despite being wide options as opposed to the central striker that Wilson is, gives Lampard the added versatile depth that was needed to make sure he has enough bodies for the remaining months of the campaign.
