Camisa 12 finish bottom and drop to Acesso 2 at São Paulo Carnival

The Camisa 12 samba school has been relegated to Access Group 2 of the São Paulo Carnival. Linked to the organized supporters of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, the association finished in last place in Access Group 1 after the scoring held on Tuesday morning at the Anhembi Sambadrome.

In the overall tally, Camisa 12 reached 268.5 points. The scores were distributed across the categories of evolution, samba-enredo, drum section, plot, master of ceremonies and flag bearer, floats, front commission, harmony, and costumes. Along with them, the traditional Nenê de Vila Matilde was also relegated to Access 2.

On the other hand, Access Group 1 crowned Acadêmicos de Tucuruvi as champion, with Pérola Negra taking the runner-up spot. Both schools secured a place in the Special Group in 2027. Remaining in Access 1 for the next season are Mancha Verde, Independente Tricolor, Unidos de Vila Maria, and Dom Bosco de Itaquera.

In the parade held last Sunday, Camisa 12 presented the theme “Nagô Princesses, Queens of Brazil – The Origin of Faith, Heritage of Ketu.” The proposal brought to the avenue a celebration of the roots of Afro-Brazilian culture and religiosity, highlighting the strength and protagonism of Black women who were fundamental in the consolidation of candomblé in the country. The theme paid tribute to historical figures such as Iyá Nassô, Iyá Detá, and Iyá Akalá.

Meanwhile, Gaviões da Fiel is competing in the Special Group, with the scoring scheduled for 4:00 PM this Tuesday. With the theme “Ancestral Voices for a New Tomorrow,” the school paid homage to Brazil’s forests and indigenous peoples. The samba included terms from indigenous languages and referenced the violence suffered by these populations since Portuguese colonization.

In 2025, Gaviões brought to Anhembi the theme “Irin Ajó Emi Ojisé (The Journey of the Messenger Spirit),” which explored the symbolism of masks on the African continent and highlighted the cultural plurality of its peoples. On that occasion, the school achieved third place, behind the champion Rosas de Ouro and Acadêmicos do Tatuapé, a result that guaranteed its presence in the Champions Parade.
