Achraf Hakimi close to a historic record with Morocco

Back in Morocco's starting XI after missing the group stage matches of the CAN 2025 due to injury, Achraf Hakimi continues his journey with the Moroccan national team.
The Atlas Lions’ right-back played a pivotal role in his country's victory on Friday night against Cameroon (2-0)—a win that secured their place in the semi-finals.
With this win, the Paris Saint-Germain defender is now closer than ever to breaking a historic record with the Moroccan national side.
He now boasts 62 wins in 91 appearances for Morocco—just one shy of Noureddine Naybet’s record of 63 victories.
If Hakimi and his teammates triumph in the semi-final against either Algeria or Nigeria, the former Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan player will equal Naybet’s record.
Should Morocco then go on to win the final, the 2025 African Ballon d’Or contender will claim this record for himself. It’s also worth noting that Hakimi is currently on a 16-match winning streak in Atlas Lions colours.
