Samir Chergui
Hours after Samir Chergui's injury with Paris FC, all of Algeria is holding its breath with less than a month to go before the kickoff of CAN 2025 in Morocco.
This weekend, Samir Chergui was forced off against LOSC in the league. The Paris FC defender felt discomfort in his hamstring. Since then, the Algerian national team has been on edge. It’s worth noting that Chergui quickly established himself after his first call-up, showing rare maturity and composure for a recent addition to the Fennecs’ squad.
His performances in November had firmly established him as a serious contender for a major role in the heart of the defense. This injury now changes the game. While the club has mentioned a muscular issue with no timeline for recovery, Petkovic and his medical staff are awaiting test results before making any announcements.
Petkovic, the Fennecs’ head coach, does have alternatives and is even considering a back three, but nothing will be decided until Chergui’s situation is clarified.
