The CAF's sanctions against Senegal following the chaotic CAN 2025 final will finally be revealed.
The CAF disciplinary committee is set to rule on the incidents that occurred during the CAN 2025 final. The body will review the events that unfolded in the match between Morocco and Senegal. The disciplinary committee will scrutinize all the incidents this Tuesday, January 27, 2026. In accordance with CAF procedures, the committee's president, Senegalese Ousmane Kane, has been recused from the proceedings.
To recap, the Lions of Teranga defeated Morocco in a dramatic, rollercoaster final on Sunday, January 18. The match was proceeding smoothly until stoppage time. Ismaila Sarr put the ball in the net, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Achraf Hakimi. Moments later, Jean-Jacques Ndala awarded Morocco a penalty after consulting VAR, further intensifying an already tense situation.
In the stands, Senegalese supporters lost their composure and attempted to invade the pitch. Security forces intervened, leading to clashes between the two groups. On the field, Pape Thiaw instructed his players to leave the pitch.
