CAN 2025: Senegalese president gives extraordinary gift to the team
The euphoria sparked by the continental triumph quickly transcended the realm of sport in Senegal. In Dakar, the official celebration of the 2025 African champions took on the air of a national tribute, with a powerful political message sent to the entire victorious delegation. The win over Morocco was elevated as a symbol of excellence and collective pride, hailed at the very highest level of state.
In front of the players and Senegalese football officials, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced a series of exceptional rewards. Each member of the national team, led by Pape Thiaw, will receive an individual bonus of 75 million CFA francs, along with a 1,500-square-meter plot of land on the Petite Côte. A powerful gesture, designed as lasting recognition of their sporting achievement.
The Senegalese Football Federation was not left out, with each member receiving an allocation of 50 million CFA francs and a 1,000-square-meter plot. Other delegation members will also benefit from a substantial bonus and dedicated land. Finally, a total sum of 305 million CFA francs has been allocated to the Ministry of Sports to reward all its staff. A comprehensive celebration, where sporting victory was transformed into a state commitment.
