Fresh from Thursday’s 2-1 win over Juventus in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, FC Bayern Women return to Google Pixel Bundesliga action on Sunday with another home game against Köln. Kick-off is at 16:00 CEST. Here’s all you need to know about the Matchday 7 meeting in our preview.
Bayern produced a top performance last weekend to beat Wolfsburg 3-1 away from home. Klara Bühl, Momoko Tanikawa and Alara Şehitler got the goals to send the defending champions clear at the top of the table.
The Munich Frauen also chalked up an important win during the week as they got their first Champions League points of the season with a 2-1 victory at home to Juventus. Lea Schüller came off the bench to score the winner deep into added time.
Franziska Kett and Bayern top the Bundesliga standings prior to hosting Köln.
The visitors from Cologne come into Matchday 7 in 10th place with seven points from the opening six games. They got off to a poor start to the season by losing their first three against RB Leipzig, Freiburg and Wolfsburg before beginning their turnaround with a win in Essen. Last weekend they won again against Union Berlin before squandering a 2-0 lead on Thursday to draw 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen in their rearranged fixture.
Köln’s record in this fixture makes for miserable reading from their perspective, having lost all 15 competitive meetings with Bayern (14x Bundesliga, 1x DFB Cup) in the decade since these teams first met.

José Barcala wants to cap a perfect week with another victory over Köln.
José Barcala: “It’ll be a difficult game, even though Köln – just like us – only played on Thursday. We’re expecting an aggressive opponent who plays with great intensity and will be alert. So, we need to prepare as best we can to keep all three points in Munich.”
Lena Oberdorf: “We go into every game as if it were a Champions League game. The Bundesliga is tight, so we need to give 120 percent in every match. It means we don’t find it tough to switch between competitions. Every fixture is key, because our goal is to finish at the top.”
