“Can see the difference” – Alan Shearer praises “clever” Chelsea ace for changing game vs Nottingham Forest

Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes Marc Guiu changed the game for Chelsea against Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea struggled in the first half, but eventually ran out comfortable 3-0 winners to move up to sixth in the Premier League.

Josh Acheampong scored his first Chelsea goal, whilst Pedro Neto scored a free-kick, and Reece James found the back of the net on his 200th appearance for the Blues.

Chelsea were without Enzo Fernandez, whilst Moises Caicedo started on the bench, and the Blues were up against it in the first half.

The midfield struggles were obvious, but Chelsea also offered very little in the attacking third, with Enzo Maresca taking action at half time.

Alejandro Garnacho, Andrey Santos and Romeo Lavia were replaced by Marc Guiu, Moises Caicedo and Jamie Gittens.

The changes made a difference, and Guiu’s relentless pressing and energy ensured he was a nuisance to the Forest defence, and he genuinely made a difference.

In the absence of Liam Delap, Guiu should be featuring more, and Shearer believes the introduction of the youngster changed the game.

“Not only did he bring Gittens and Caicedo on to bring a bit of solidity, he brought Guiu on,” he told BBC Match of the Day

“You can see the difference now. Pedro is now predominantly playing in the ten, Guiu’s the centre forward, he’s running in behind, and all of a sudden, it changes.

“They’re now playing on the front foot, they’re now getting chances in the final third, Guiu’s coming short, but he’s also asking questions in behind.

“It’s such a clever run, he doesn’t get it first time, but you can see again, look where he ends up, again making it difficult for the Forest defence.”
