Professional footballers, including Pierrick Capelle, Johan Gastien, Lionel Mpasi and Clément Depres, are on 2026 municipal ballots across France.

According to L'Équipe, on Sunday Capelle, 38, in Saint-Jean-de-Linières is 19th on the only list, "Vivre ensemble, agir pour tous", led by incumbent Franck Poquin, so he will keep his council seat.

Based in the 3,900-strong town since joining Angers in 2015, he plans to continue on the land-use commission, with more 'voies douces' after helping deliver two city stades and a modern synthetic pitch.

Clermont midfielder Johan Gastien is running in Sayat, population 2,500, where he has lived for two years. He is seventh on "Demain se dessine ensemble", headed by project manager Sébastien Besnard.

Besnard portrays him as far from the bubble stereotype and has secured a commitment across the full six-year term.

In Rodez, Le Havre goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi, 31, appears 34th and penultimate on "Rodez en partage", led by Sarah Vidal. After nine seasons at Rodez he joined Le Havre last summer and now wants to back those who supported him.

Former Rodez forward Clément Depres, 31, now with Nîmes, is 17th on Jean-Louis Blanc’s "Se fédérer pour Mus" in Mus, Gard, population 1,650, where he grew up and his father still lives. He casts his run as playing for his village rather than a shirt.
