Jak Alnwick is set to complete a permanent move from Cardiff City to fellow League One promotion chasers Huddersfield Town.
Cardiff City goalkeeper Jak Alnwick is set to complete a permanent transfer to fellow League One promotion contenders Huddersfield Town.
Brian Barry-Murphy's Cardiff are top of the third tier after Sunday's 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, while Huddersfield occupy fourth spot following their 2-2 draw with Exeter City.
The Bluebirds can bolster their title and automatic promotion credentials by beating Leyton Orient on Saturday, whereas the Terriers can strengthen their grip on a play-off place when they travel to Stockport County.
Alnwick has endured a lack of game time at Cardiff this term, thanks to the presence of summer addition Nathan Trott, who has maintained nine clean sheets in 21 League One appearances.

Alnwick was a key player for the Welsh side last season, making 31 appearances across all competitions, including 29 Championship outings.
However, since Cardiff's relegation to League One, the 32-year-old has failed to make a single appearance, with Barry-Murphy heavily favouring Trott.
According to Wales Online, Alnwick is now set to complete a permanent move to Huddersfield, who are vying to make a Championship return at the second time of asking.
The former St Mirren man joined the Bluebirds on a free transfer back in 2022, while his 64th and, seemingly, final appearance for the Welsh side came in a Championship clash with Plymouth Argyle last February.
Alnwick will now be eager to utilise his experience and help Huddersfield land a League One play-off spot.
The 32-year-old is a seasoned third-tier player thanks to his previous stints with Blackpool, Scunthorpe United, Bradford City and Port Vale.
Alnwick even made six Premier League appearances for Newcastle United back in 2014/15, but his mind is now fully set on performing in League One yet again.

Huddersfield, managed by former goalkeeper Lee Grant, enjoy the services of shot-stopper Lee Nicholls, who has made 160 appearances for the West Yorkshire outfit on a free transfer back in 2021.
The 33-year-old has maintained strong form this season, keeping four clean sheets in 16 League One appearances, and will not want to be ousted by the incoming Alnwick.
However, the fact that Alnwick made 29 Championship outings last season proves that he may have what it takes to depose Nicholls from his current status as Grant's first-choice goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, fellow stopper Owen Goodman, on loan from reigning FA Cup champions Crystal Palace, could return to his parent club after earning four clean sheets in 10 League One appearances.
Alnwick's incoming signature means that Huddersfield will not be short of goalkeeping options, even if Goodman returns to Selhurst Park this month.
Huddersfield supporters will now be intrigued to see whether Alnwick or Nicholls will be between the sticks for their side when they face play-off rivals Stockport at Edgeley Park on Saturday.
