Cardiff expected to make new defensive signing shortly

Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy expects the club to make a new defensive signing before Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Norwich.

The Bluebirds are dealing with an injury crisis in the middle of defence, with four players currently sidelined, but Barry-Murphy is hopeful of new additions in that area.

“We obviously have four players injured at the moment who play in that position, so it’s slightly unusual,” Barry-Murphy said after his side’s 2-2 draw with Derby County.

“But it is an area of the team that we’re looking to improve anyway, so fingers crossed something will happen soon.”

Asked whether he expected a new arrival before Tuesday, Barry-Murphy was confident.

“I would expect so,” he replied.
