Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Neymar will miss Brazil’s World Cup opener against Morocco on Saturday at midnight, according to L'Équipe.

The Santos forward has not sufficiently recovered from a calf injury sustained on 17 May during a Brazilian league match, and he has yet to rejoin full training.

Ancelotti said Neymar is working hard to regain fitness as quickly as possible, adding that they hope he can return to full training next week.

The 34-year-old is now targeting 20 June at 3am against Haiti or 25 June at midnight against Scotland for a possible comeback and to begin his tournament.

The former PSG player remains unavailable as Brazil prepare to start their campaign without their leading forward.
