Former Brazil head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, 83, has left intensive care in Rio de Janeiro after his condition improved, the hospital treating him said.
He had been in intensive care since 28 June with a pulmonary inflammation, having been hospitalised for just under a month.
He is lucid and cooperative, and his renal function has stabilised.
He has been moved to a semi-intensive care unit.
Parreira has lived with Hodgkin lymphoma since 2023. At the end of June he underwent surgery after a deterioration that required artificial respiration.
The Brazilian holds the record for World Cup appearances as a national team coach. In addition to leading the Seleção in 1994 and 2006, he coached Kuwait in 1982, the United Arab Emirates in 1990, Saudi Arabia in 1998 and South Africa in 2010.
