"Every time I go out to warm up, I lock in on my concentration, for a goalkeeper it is vital. I focus on the mental side and visualise as much as I can for decisive moments."
Speaking to Globo.com, Carlos Miguel said relentless, high-intensity work with coaches Rogério Godoy and Thales Damasceno is the simple secret behind his surge.
"I joke that training with Rogério and Thales is harder than the game itself. We train harder so everything becomes easier."
In 2026 he has one defeat in 28 games, with 21 wins, six draws, 18 conceded and 12 clean sheets, after lifting the Paulista title.
He echoed Abel Ferreira’s concern over a punishing run, four matches with three days or fewer between them. "We cannot train. Those who play cannot train and sometimes we are very tired, it affects the body."
He has logged the most minutes for Palmeiras in 2026, though goalkeepers face lower physical load than outfielders such as Marlon Freitas, Gustavo Gómez and Flaco López.
He believes it is possible to win the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores if the level is maintained.
He has not been called up by Carlo Ancelotti, but he still dreams of the final list. "I cannot imagine how I will react. The only certainty is I will remember the kid on his grandmother’s carpet watching 2014."
At 27, he aims to stay at a very high level for Palmeiras’s next test against Sporting Cristal on Tuesday.
