Carlos Palacios, the former Vasco and Internacional player now at Boca Juniors, is being investigated in Chile. Police seized a car registered in his name containing a large quantity of cocaine, which was being driven by his father-in-law, Sebastián Soto Guerra, according to Globo.com.

Soto Guerra was arrested as part of a months-long investigation. He is described as a senior figure in the criminal group Los Pájaros de La Legua, which operates in San Joaquín, Santiago.

He is the father of Alexia Catalina, Palacios’s current partner.

Alex Cortés, head of the South Metropolitan Region’s Criminal Analysis System Prosecution (SAC), said the long-running inquiry will determine whether the Boca Juniors player has any link to alleged drug-trafficking offences.

Palacios played in Brazil between 2021 and 2022, making 34 appearances for Internacional before moving to Vasco in a deal worth around R$ eight million. He did not establish himself in Rio de Janeiro and spent the following season on loan at Colo-Colo. He has been with Boca since 2025, featuring in 37 matches with three goals and four assists.
