Jorge Carrascal is available to face Internacional on Wednesday at Beira-Rio, having completed a three-match suspension after Flamengo’s 1-1 draw with São Paulo on Sunday.

According to Globo.com, the STJD’s Pleno handed the midfielder a three-game ban for a repeat offence following his straight red against Palmeiras on 23 May in the 17th round of the Brasileirão.

The dismissal came at 20 minutes of the first half at the Maracanã, when the Colombian’s boot caught defender Murilo in the face. The match was 0-0 at the time, and Palmeiras went on to win 3-0.

Carrascal missed the game against Coritiba before the World Cup, then the fixtures with Chapecoense and São Paulo after the tournament.

Flamengo appealed, seeking acquittal or the minimum one-match penalty, arguing the incident was accidental and less serious than a recent Fla-Flu case in which he received two games. He was charged under article 254 of the CBJD for violent conduct, an offence carrying a suspension of one to six matches.

He was the last of Flamengo’s nine World Cup players to return, after Colombia’s strong campaign. Following 10 days of leave, he reported back on the morning of the 17th at Ninho do Urubu.
