Álvaro Carreras has returned to Real Madrid training and is hoping for positive news as he seeks clearance for the Champions League second leg at Manchester City. The Spanish defender, who left Benfica in the summer, has endured a mixed few weeks.
He was back on Sunday, 15 March, working under Álvaro Arbeloa ahead of the tie in England. Marca reports that Carreras and Kylian Mbappé are to be included in the squad unless there is a late setback, with Monday’s session described as decisive.
Carreras completed only part of the workout, so doubts remain over his readiness. Mbappé, who had also been injured, trained fully without restriction, increasing the likelihood of his involvement.
The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, 17 March, at 20:00 at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
Real Madrid lead the tie after a 3-0 win over Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu.
