Carrick has brought back two key traits United lacked under Amorim | OneFootball

Manchester United rode their luck at times, but eventually claimed all three points in a pulsating encounter against Fulham on Sunday.

The Red Devils scored through Casemiro and Matheus Cunha in either half, and looked set to win the contest at a canter.

However, the Cottagers rallied back and scored twice within five minutes to stun the Old Trafford crowd into silence.

The game management from the players was poor; however, unlike the Ruben Amorim era, the players do not seem to give up so easily under Michael Carrick.

Fergie time winners are back

For the second game running, they provided the perfect instant riposte. Against Arsenal, it was Cunha who came up with the goods three minutes after their equaliser.

And against Marco Silva’s men, Benjamin Sesko came up trumps. Three minutes after Kevin’s curler, the Slovenian broke Fulham hearts to send the Stretford End wild.

Fergie time winners are back on the menu under the caretaker head coach! United often made it hard for themselves under the legendary former boss, but always came up on top in the end!

Sunday’s entertaining late flurry was a reminder of the good old days! Carrick will have experienced plenty of those moments as a player, now he is bringing the same energy as the head coach.

Winning despite not playing too well is a great sign

Under the previous head coach, the 20-time English league champions have often played well against their traditional rivals while struggling against the so-called lesser teams.

And while United were not at their best against the team from Craven Cottage, they did get the job done in the end to make it three wins out of three under the former United midfielder.

As a result, the three-time Champions League winners climbed up to fourth in the table, ahead of both Chelsea and Liverpool, and only five points away from Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Carrick will know it was fortuitous for his team at times, and if not for Senne Lammens in goal, the result could have been vastly different.

Need to improve before Spurs

The Belgian produced four quality saves to thwart Fulham, and he was a commanding presence inside the box.

The players need to buckle up and show the same desire and fight as they did against City and the Gunners when Tottenham Hotspur come to town next week.
