Manchester United have decided to keep Shea Lacey in their first-team squad for the opening half of the season, with a loan move shelved until at least January following his impressive showing in the 5-0 win over Rosenborg.

According to The Sun’s Samuel Luckhurst, manager Michael Carrick wants the teenage attacking midfielder retained at Carrington rather than farmed out, with United and Lacey’s advisers set to reassess the situation in the new year before deciding whether a loan move is required.
