Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal has hit back at La Liga president Javier Tebas over his recent comments regarding the league game between Villarreal and Barcelona being played in the USA.
Carvajal had voiced his concerns about the match being moved overseas, stating that it would adulterate the competition.
It sparked a response from Tebas, who pointed fingers at Real Madrid TV videos criticising referees instead of addressing the concerns raised by the Spanish international.
“First, I believe the competition isn’t being tampered with; it’s a very exquisite vision,” Tebas said.
“To me, all the Real Madrid TV videos from last season seemed to be more of a distortion of the competition, as they were clearly intended to pressure the refereeing team,” he added.
Not long after Tebas made his comments, Carvajal has now taken to his social media account to respond to the La Liga chief.
“Hello, Mr Javier Tebas, breaking the rules is tantamount to rigging the competition. You are free to express your opinion about the RMTV videos, but you cannot ignore the fact that what I mentioned above is breaking the rules,” wrote Carvajal.

Not stopping there, the Real Madrid captain further stated that if the Villarreal vs Barcelona match went ahead in Miami, it would be a blot on La Liga’s image.
“There will be a stain on your competition if the match goes ahead. Good afternoon,” he concluded.
Tebas and La Liga have shown no indication of backing down despite facing widespread opposition to the plan, while Barcelona and Villarreal are also on board.
However, Real Madrid are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to ensure that the game does not take place outside Spain as they firmly believe it would distort the competition.
Having already written letters to the CSD and CONCACAF seeking their intervention, it remains to be seen what the Merengues’ next steps will be.
