CD Castellón have stacked their wide and No 10 roles, leaving 12 contenders for three places as Pablo Hernández builds an attacking side in LaLiga Hypermotion. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, recruitment follows Haralabos Voulgaris’ data-led model to find undervalued players.

Of nine signings, six target the second line of attack, wingers or attacking midfielders.

Álex Calatrava’s move to Espanyol left a sizeable gap that Castellón plan to spread across profiles. On the flanks, the only exit to date is Lorenzo De Nipoti, who has returned to Atalanta after his loan.

Iñigo Córdoba, a left winger who can also be a wing-back after two strong Burgos seasons, offers immediate impact. Álvaro Martín, closer to Calatrava’s role, looks a leading No 10 on pre-season form.

Hamza Bellari, key in Eldense’s promotion, is a left-footed right winger. Fran Castillo arrives from Ibiza and appears best as a No 10.

From abroad, the Italian Antonio Gala operates between the lines with creativity, and Rodrigo Rego likes to start wide right and dribble.

Raúl Sánchez and Pablo Santiago are trusted wide or as wing-backs. Adam Jakobsen, a false winger with striker’s instincts, ended last season strongly from the left.

Isra Suero is an impact option behind the striker. Awer Mabil returns after World Cup duty, and Douglas Aurélio thrives with freedom as a No 10. With so many for three slots, minutes will be fiercely contested and further exits before the window closes cannot be ruled out.
