CD Castellón are set for a record budget and squad salary limit this season, as they finalise the 2025/26 accounts and map out finances for the new campaign.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the final numbers will be presented at the next ordinary shareholders’ meeting, and continued growth since the arrival of Haralabos Voulgaris points to fresh economic records.

The club expects a higher Límite de Coste de Plantilla Deportiva, the LaLiga salary cap, although the league will not confirm figures until after the summer window closes. Castellón finished last season with a limit of 11,563,000 euros, up from 11.3 million at the start, the seventh highest in Segunda División.

That anticipated rise would improve room to shape a squad aiming to kick on after a historic year, when the team reached the play-off for promotion to Primera División.

The LCPD is the maximum spend LaLiga permits on sporting staff, covering player and coaching wages, bonuses, social security, agent commissions and transfer amortisation, among other items. It aims to safeguard clubs’ viability by aligning spending with income.

The model has critics for its complexity, limited transparency and the gaps it creates. Clubs may extend headroom by advancing income, selling assets, deferring payments, spreading fees across seasons or using variables, though LaLiga can reduce caps, block registrations or sanction teams if it detects inflated income, hidden costs or later breaches.

A new record budget is also on the way. In January the club presented 14.3 million euros, already the highest in its history, and the next financial year will improve on that figure through higher revenues and a consolidating project.
