CD Castellón overcame CE Sabadell in their first pre-season outing, with the spotlight on the newcomers and returning faces.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, five of the seven confirmed signings saw minutes, while Fran Castillo and the newly arrived Rodrigo Rego sat out. José Albert returned after his UD Ibiza loan, and reserve-team addition Iago Parente also featured.

Álvaro Martín, rated eight, was the standout, initially alongside Diego Barri in a double pivot with licence to roam, then even brighter further forward.

Hamza Bellari, seven, displayed close control and link play, dovetailing with Álvaro Martín before the tempo dipped after the break. Íñigo Córdoba, seven, grafted on the left and forced a late corner with a headed chance.

Goalkeeper Amir Saipi, six, had a quiet half-hour, calm with his feet and steady behind an organised back line. Juanjo Nieto, six, competed strongly, providing direct competition for Jérémy Mellot.

José Albert, seven, logged the longest shift to minute 63, starting at left-back and combining with Raúl Sánchez, then moving into central defence to play out cleanly.

Centre-back Iago Parente, seven, looked assured on debut for the B-team recruit, limiting danger in Castellón’s box. Jari Vlak, six, had little influence in a stop-start second half but showed solid physical presence.
