The CBF has summoned Série A and Série B clubs to meetings from August to discuss a single league, Liga do Futebol do Brasil, and 2027 regulations.
The federation said in a letter that the first session on 10 August will address refereeing and whether to adopt IFAB’s new World Cup rules.
In that letter, it said it wants to share World Cup observations and discuss how to apply the innovations in the Brasileirão. An IFAB addition to Law 12, known as the "lei Vini Jr.", is also on the agenda.
Talks on a single league have advanced this year, and clubs met the CBF in April to discuss it. Brazil’s leading teams are currently split between Libra and FFU (Futebol Forte União).
In a circular sent on Thursday, the CBF set a timetable to speed up the debate. Those involved expect to inaugurate the league’s statute by the end of the year.
Meetings are scheduled for 10 August, 14 September, 13 October, nine November and seven December 2026, covering refereeing, competition organisation, licensing and infrastructure, match operations, and governance, oversight and integrity.
