Members of the CBF are 'pressuring' Marcos Lamacchia to abandon his bid to buy Vasco SAF, according to Atenção, Vascaínos!.
The rationale given behind the scenes is an alleged conflict of interest, and the deal is under scrutiny from a new regulatory body created by the confederation to enforce Financial Fair Play in Brazilian clubs.
Even with external pressure, Lamacchia remains intent on completing the acquisition of Vasco's football operation.
The club's legal and financial teams are finalising a last exchange of documents with Lamacchia's camp to enable the signing of a memorandum of understanding, leaving the process close to a positive outcome.
Once endorsed, the plan to transfer 90% of Vasco SAF's assets will go to a vote in the Conselho Deliberativo. The São Januário hierarchy expect to announce the sale to the capital markets and supporters this week, with commercial terms already agreed.
