CBF says Grêmio equaliser was offside by one centimetre against Botafogo | OneFootball

The CBF said on Thursday that semi-automatic offside detected a one centimetre infringement before Carlos Vinicius scored for Grêmio, cancelling a stoppage-time equaliser in their 3-2 defeat to Botafogo in the Campeonato Brasileiro on Wednesday.

The striker collected a pass inside the box and finished, with players already set up for the restart before the intervention ruled the effort out.

The call triggered heavy complaints from Grêmio, who argued the 3D visual at the pass appeared inconclusive.

An equaliser would have completed a comeback, as Grêmio trailed 3-1 until the 42nd minute of the second half.

Defeat leaves the team still without an away win in the league and close to the relegation zone. They have 28 points, in 16th place, ahead of Vasco on goal difference, now with one game more.
