The CBF has informed clubs it will open discussions on potential changes to the Brasileirão, including a move to reduce the number of relegated teams.
GE reports that some Serie A clubs favour cutting relegation places from four to three, which would also mean trimming promotions from Série B from four to three.
Alongside relegation reform, the CBF intends to debate the use of synthetic pitches and the cap on overseas players. At present, each team may list nine players born outside Brazil per match.
In recent weeks, several clubs have asked for the foreign player limit to be reduced, arguing that the development of young Brazilian footballers is being hindered.
No date has been set for talks. The expectation is that discussions will take place in the first half of 2026, before the Copa do Brasil.
