The CBF has warned referee Felipe Fernandes de Lima after an erroneous kick-off procedure in Palmeiras v Fluminense on Wednesday, a 4th-round Campeonato Brasileiro fixture at Arena Crefisa Barueri.

The federation said in a statement that although Palmeiras were wrongly allowed to take the kick-off to start both halves, the error did not affect the game because Fluminense immediately gained possession and there was no disciplinary sanction, goal or other immediate incident.

The hosts began the match with the ball, and under the rules Fluminense should have restarted the second half. Instead Palmeiras kicked off again. The game finished 2-1 to Palmeiras, the same score as at half-time.

Rodrigo Martins Cintra, the CBF refereeing commission president, was appointed as the match inspector.

After the match, Carlos Miguel said he had not noticed the issue when asked by reporters. Fluminense defender Freytes said he saw Palmeiras restart and tried to alert the referee, but without success.

Competition rules stipulate that the team that chose which end to attack in the first half takes the second-half kick-off.
