CD Castellón return to training on Monday at Ciudad Deportiva La Coma, with six new faces and a renewed project under Pablo Hernández, aiming to stay competitive in Segunda División.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the rebuild spans almost every line, complemented by academy promotions and loanees back in the fold after spells away.
One eye-catching arrival is Juanjo Nieto, with broad professional experience, who should add attacking width and defensive reliability in a role that lacked a clear replacement for Mellot.
In midfield, Dutch midfielder Jari Vlak arrives after being named the best player in his country’s second tier. He is joined by creators, the left-footed Álvaro Martín from Andorra and Fran Castillo from Ibiza.
Out wide, Iñigo Córdoba, with years across Primera and Segunda, offers dribbling and competitiveness and could anchor the left. On the right, Hamza Bellari adds pace, one v one threat and directness.
Further depth comes from defender Agustín Sienra’s full promotion, goalkeeper Sergi Torner’s renewal and step up, and José Albert returning to the squad after his loan.
Work is far from finished. The sale of Álex Calatrava provides scope to keep strengthening, with more than a month to kick-off on 15-16 August and the window open until one September.
