CD Castellón start Olot camp as Antonio Gala trains, Fran Castillo involved and Awer Mabil rejoins | OneFootball

CD Castellón opened their pre-season camp at the Royalverd Training Center in Olot on Monday 27 July. Antonio Gala trained with the group for the first time under coach Pablo Hernández, Awer Mabil rejoined after World Cup duty, and Fran Castillo also took part.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the squad will remain in Olot until Saturday 1 August, working through six days of intensive preparation for the 2026/27 campaign.

The travelling party includes goalkeepers Saipi, Matthys, Sergi Torner and Biarge, alongside a large outfield group.

Castellón’s opening friendlies brought wins over Sabadell 2-0 and Valencia 1-2, reinforcing the early groundwork.

Next up is Girona FC on Wednesday 29 July at 18.30, at the Catalan club’s training complex, a test against a newly relegated Segunda side.

They then face Deportivo Alavés on Friday 31 July at 10.30 at Royalverd. Those games could bring Gala’s first minutes, Mabil’s return to action and a possible pre-season debut for Fran Castillo as Hernández continues to shape his squad.
