Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze is optimistic that his team will find their goal-scoring boots amid a persistent lack of cutting edge in front of goals.

The Soweto giants, despite notable improvement this season, have struggled to convert their chances in the final third - an ongoing issue throughout the 2025/26 campaign.

Chiefs have played six matches across all competitions since the resumption of club football, and they have managed to score two or more goals in only one game, which is their 2-1 win over Al Masry.

Now, Kaze has attributed the lack of goals to injuries that have plagued the squad, particularly in the forward line.

“The lack of goals, I would put it in a context. I believe that when we started the second phase of the league and at the end of the first phase of the league, we had so many injuries and important offensive players like [Glody] Lilepo, [Gaston] Sirino,” he said.

"And when you have one of your best offensive players being injured, you take a blow. But I'm pretty sure that with the games progressing we will get better.

However, the Burundian tactician is confident that with players returning from their respective injury layoffs, goals will start flooding in the favour of Chiefs.

“We have players that are coming back from injury - George Matlou, Thabo Cele, Ox [Mthethwa], [Bradley] Cross and all those players are going to add the quality that we need because sometimes you can't even rotate too much,” Kaze added.

"Even [Etiosa] Ighodaro is injured but we expect him to be there in the next two weeks probably. You can't even rotate your offensive players because you don't have a lot of choices. But we expect that we will do better in the next few weeks with all the players that are out injured [coming] back.

Chiefs return to action with a crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash against Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek SC at the Suez Canal Stadium on Saturday.
